Do you ever feel that someone else is in an empty room with you? That they’ve somehow materialised, invisibly and without a sound, and are now stood, inches away from you face, silently scrutinising you?

That would be me. My job is, well, it’s hard to explain really. I monitor people, certain people, to keep an eye on them and their life. See how things are going. Which direction they’re heading in. My reports enable my superiors to decide whether to allow you to continue, or whether to… not allow you continue.

I know such things are seen as ‘ethically dubious’. Perhaps. But for the sake of one life, maybe yours, maybe someone else’s, hundreds of thousands may be saved. As long as we catch you in time.
